Gravediggers in the industry.

The German group KION, second forklifts producer in the world, announced, on the 5th of July 2011, the closing down of the production site STILL situated at Montataire (France).

This group held by K-K-R and Goldman Sachs produce marks as FENWICK, STILL, Linde and OM. That closing down directly involves 257 employments (186 CDI and 71 interims) and numerous new positions for subcontractors.

The same day, the financial manager from the group KION, Harald PINGER came to confirm, in person and in front of all the employees of the factory Montataire, their new strategy.

This announcement had a bomb effect leaving the employees in a huge psychological distress.

The reason of that closing down strictly answers to the rule well known as a profitable stock exchange. The site of Montataire has always been profitable. In this plant there is no loss or economic, financial reasons which could justify an act like this. In 2009, the factory has sorted itself out of the economic crises proudly and today is fully booked with a record of 5000 forklifts (the equivalent of 3 months of work).

  • 6 M€ benefits in 2010 and a CA of 75 M€ including participation bonuses given with as reference a result in 2008 of 10 M€.
  • 1st trimester 2011 the CA of the site at Montataire is 43 M€.

This closing down enrolls in the logical line of the group KION which would like to enter in the stock exchange for a very short term. What permits to show to the future shareholders the group KION is ready to sacrifice employments and performing tools of production for the only reason such as the profitable stock exchange.

It is now more than 5 years the factory STILL in Montataire and its employees live under the pressure of the board KION which gives the ton permanently. An announcement took place 2 years ago and gave a supplementary pressure on its employees.

This closing down certainly echoes like a stroke of thunder in the Bassin Creillois and the county which have been concerned for several years severely by successive crises and relocations.

This is to fight against that closing down that we built this website and we would like to invite you to sign the petition you will find here.
